GENERAL CAR RENTAL TERMS

Driver's age:

The minimum age of the driver for all categories is 23 years old. In addition, only the driver mentioned in the rental contract is allowed to drive the car. 

Driving license:

The driver is obliged to have and present a valid Driving License issued at least one year before the rental date. The driving license must be Greek, European (for EU countries) or International (for non-EU countries)

Payment method:

On the date of making the online reservation on our website, an amount corresponding to 20% of the total price that will arise (based on the total rental days and the category of the vehicle you choose) must be paid in advance.

The payment of the remaining amount (80%) will be made in cash or by card on the date of receipt of the vehicle by the lessee / delivery of the vehicle by the company.

The reservations made are for a car category that includes several models that have the same characteristics (e.g. displacement, fuel, luggage compartment, etc.). If on the date of receipt of the vehicle by the lessee there is no available vehicle from the specific vehicle category for which the reservation has been made, the company may rent another vehicle of a larger category (upgrade of vehicle category) without any additional charge.

Guarantee:  

For the rental of a vehicle from our company will not be required to hold any amount of money as a guarantee on the credit/debit card of the driver upon receipt of the vehicle.

Vehicle  delivery:

Our company provides the possibility of delivery or collection of the vehicle at the location chosen by the renter (such as Heraklion Port, Nikos Kazantzakis Airport, etc.) and the charge on the total amount of the rental will arise based on the kilometric distance from our headquarters and indicatively:

Cancellations:

If the reservation is cancelled up to 10 days before the start date of the rental, the amount paid will be refunded and corresponds to 30% of the deposit given on the total amount on the date the online reservation was made. Otherwise, the deposit paid is not refundable.

Fuel Policy:  

On the day of return of the car the renter must return it with the same level of petrol that was in the tank on the day it was delivered to him. In case that due to an error he refuels the tank with the wrong fuel instead of the correct one (eg refueling with oil) the renter will be responsible for the cost of repairing the damage that may be caused.

Key loss:

All car keys in our fleet are encoded and chipped. In case of loss or destruction of the vehicle keys, the renter will bear the cost of their replacement, while in case the keys have been locked inside the vehicle, the renter will bear the cost of their recovery (for example, if the intervention of a vehicle mechanic is required). 

Fines and violations:

The lessee is responsible for traffic violations and is obliged to pay the price of any violations / fine that may be imposed, made during the lease, even if the above amounts are required after the expiration of the lease.

Optional services and additional equipment:

Child seats: Available only after reservation and at a charge of 2 € per day.

Restriction of movement/Transportation  by boat: It is forbidden to transport the rented vehicle outside Crete by boat. Otherwise, the renter is responsible for all any damage that may be caused to the rented vehicle during its transportation from any cause, regardless of any coverage and limitations of liability he has accepted and paid at the beginning of the lease.

Rental restrictions

Use  of vehicle: The vehicle belongs to the company, and the lessee has no right other than the possession and use of the vehicle and cannot sublease, transfer or sell it.

During the rental period it is forbidden to use the vehicle:

• For the transport of cargo / goods for remuneration as well as for its use either as a commercial vehicle or as an advertising medium to serve the needs of the lessee (eg placement of advertising stickers on it, placement of logo and contact details of another business on it, etc.).
• For the carriage of passengers for remuneration (e.g. as a taxi or under a vehicle sharing agreement).
• For the carriage of any object that may damage the vehicle (including explosive or flammable materials) or delay the company's ability to rent the vehicle again due to its general condition or smell.
• When it is overloaded with passengers and/or baggage.
• To pull or push any other vehicle, trailer or other object without the express consent of the company.
• Off-road or on roads unsuitable for the vehicle, including race tracks.
• To participate in any race, race or other competition.
• In restricted areas, including airport service routes and related areas.
• In violation of any traffic or other regulation.
• For any illegal purpose.

Insurance:

All car drivers who have entered into a valid rental contract with our company are insured with third party liability for death, bodily injury and property damage. Both coverages are subject to the general terms of our contract with our partner insurance company.

Collision Damage Waiver:

Provided that the Greek Traffic Law is not violated (and with the exceptions mentioned below for the exclusion from insurance coverage), the renter is not liable for damages that may be caused to the rental vehicle.

Negligent driving/Exclusions from insurance coverage:

The insurance coverage is not valid and our company has the right to claim compensation from the renter equal to the cost of repairing the damage if it is caused to the car in the following cases:

1) If the vehicle is driven on any unauthorized road, unpaved road, dirt road or off-road (eg Balos), intentionally or without (eg in case the driver goes off the road unnecessarily). In case of violation of this term, the customer is responsible for repairing any damage caused to the underside of the vehicle, its wheels and tires, and further the cost of replacing any filters and special cleaning required.

2) If the renter violates traffic rules (e.g. road signs / STOP sign, speed limits, road direction, U-turns, illegal overtaking with double line violation).

3) If the renter goes off the road due to lack of attention.

4) If the renter violates the parking rules.

5) If the vehicle is driven to a beach and damages are caused due to sand and/or sea water.

6) If the vehicle is driven in any race, rally or competition or the vehicle is used for the purpose of reward (taxi or courier service).

7) The vehicle is driven by any person who has been confiscated from him or has never had a driving license suitable for this vehicle or is not a registered driver in the rental contract.

8) If the driver of the vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or any addictive substance affects his ability to drive the vehicle.

9) If the vehicle suffers damage intentionally or unintentionally due to the renter's negligence (eg damage to the body or doors from strong wind, clutch damage, dents in the hood / trunk / roof of the vehicle, damage to the interior of the vehicle, damage from pets).

10) If the vehicle is driven after the end of the agreed lease as stated in the contract (or its previously agreed extension).

11) If the vehicle is used for any purpose contrary to Greek Laws

Accident:  

In case of an accident, the renter must contact our company immediately. If the accident occurs with the involvement of another vehicle and/or there is injury or material damage to a third party, the renter must immediately notify the Police.

The renter is not allowed to leave the scene of the incident without reporting the accident. If the renter does not inform our company in time, then he is obliged to pay the repair costs of any damage caused to the rented vehicle.

All insurance coverage and waivers are valid provided that the renter has complied with all terms and conditions.

The renter is obliged to inspect the vehicle and report any damage to our office as soon as possible without moving the car to provide all the information and photos necessary to submit the full description of the incident.

By signing this, the lessee expressly declares that he has read and accepts the general terms of the rental and further gives his consent, i.e. accepts and consents to the processing of his personal data (such as collection, use and retention) required for the execution of the contract and for a period of 5 years from the expiration of the contract.
